Why Is B40 Diesel Considered Contaminated?
Indonesia’s B40 biodiesel program, blending 40% FAME (Fatty Acid Methyl Ester) and 60% fossil diesel, supports the nation’s sustainability goals. However, the higher FAME content tends to be hygroscopic (absorbs water) and oxidizes easily, creating a perfect environment for microbial growth.
This leads to the formation of:
Slime – sticky microbial film on tank surfaces, and
Sludge – thick deposits formed from oxidized fuel and microbial activity.
These contaminants clog fuel filters, disrupt pressure stability, and cause engine hunting (fluctuating RPM) and tripping (sudden engine shutdowns) resulting in reduced productivity and costly downtime.
To address this challenge, Verdeen showcased its flagship product, Verdeen Diesel a bio-natural fuel additive developed through local innovation. The formulation helps prevent slime and sludge formation, maintains fuel stability, and keeps the combustion chamber clean and efficient. With Verdeen Diesel, combustion runs smoother, deposits are reduced, and engines operate more stably without hunting or tripping issues.
